Positive Driver Identification Program provides driver photos prior to deliveries.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AKRON, Ohio, June 18, 2003 – FedEx Custom Critical, Inc., North America’s largest provider of expedited time-critical shipments, has taken another significant step in shipment and customer security with its new Positive Driver Identification (PDI) Program.
With the PDI Program, customers shipping with the White Glove Services® division of FedEx Custom Critical receive a shipment summary e-mail with specific details about their shipment, along with digital photos of the drivers handling the shipment.
“Security is a major concern around the globe, including at our customers’ locations,” said Jim Snider, vice president and general manager, White Glove Services. “Recent cargo security conferences have established that a major concern of shippers is whether or not the driver preparing to leave with their cargo is truly an authorized transport company representative. Therefore, our goal is to provide peace of mind for everyone utilizing our services … not only in knowing that their freight will arrive safely and on time, but also by seeing a photograph in advance of the person who will be coming to their docks or into their buildings.”
The new PDI program is the latest enhancement to the array of security services available from FedEx Custom Critical. The company’s White Glove Services division offers customers a full portfolio of secure transportation services, including: Constant Surveillance, Dual Driver Protective Service, Protective Security, Satellite Monitoring, Motor Surveillance and Signature and Tally Service.
FedEx Custom Critical provides exclusive-use, time-specific shipment services throughout the U.S. and Canada and within Europe. Among its divisions are Surface Expedite, for nonstop, door-to-door transport of critical shipments; White Glove Services®, for shipments that require special care in handling; and Air Expedite, which offers an array of air solutions to meet customers’ critical delivery times.
