AKRON, Ohio – Christopher N. O’Neil has been
appointed chief information officer at FedEx Custom Critical, North
America’s largest time-specific, critical-shipment carrier. As CIO,
O’Neil will oversee the technology used throughout all FedEx Custom
Critical operating divisions and subsidiaries. He also serves as
managing director of IT, responsible for the development and application
of technology that FedEx Custom Critical utilizes to deliver critical
shipments.
O’Neil, who has more than 16 years of experience in IT, came to FedEx
Custom Critical in 2000. Prior to that, he served as managing director
of IT engineering for FedEx Corporation’s Akron and Pittsburgh
technology centers.
“Information technology and its effective application are critical to
the success of our business,” said Jack Pickard, FedEx Custom Critical
president and CEO. “Appointing Chris as our CIO solidifies our
commitment to providing world-class technology for our employees and,
most importantly, our customers.”
O’Neil earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from The
University of Akron and a master of business administration degree from
Kent State University.
FedEx Custom Critical also made the following appointments:
· Lisa Beaufait has been promoted to division service manager for FedEx
Custom Critical’s Surface Expedite division. Beaufait joined FedEx
Custom Critical in 1988 as a customer service dispatcher. She has held
supervisory positions within the safety, contractor relations and
recruiting departments. Beaufait received a bachelor of arts degree from
The University of Akron and an M.B.A. from Kent State University.
· Stephen Weingart has been promoted to division service manager for
the Surface Expedite division. Weingart joined FedEx Custom Critical in
1988 and, since that time, has held a number of management positions
within the company’s White Glove Services® division and Third Party
Services subsidiary, as well as the Customer Response Team. Weingart has
a bachelor’s degree in communications from Malone College and an
M.B.A. from Baldwin-Wallace College.
· Geoffrey Price has been promoted to recruiting manager, responsible
for the recruiting and retention of owner operators in the Midwest and
Southern territories. Price, who has more than 20 years of experience in
the transportation industry, joined FedEx Custom Critical in 2000. He
played an integral role in the launch of UrgentFreight, the
Internet-based, FedEx Custom Critical subsidiary that gives shippers
access to multiple bids from different carriers in one process. Price
earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing
from The Ohio State University.
· Michael Abood and John Motuza have been named area human resources
managers. Their new responsibilities include managing the human
resources generalist group and issues regarding employee relations,
compensation, recruiting, team development and company culture. Abood
and Motuza also provide internal HR consulting services to FedEx Custom
Critical’s supervisory and management teams.
Abood joined FedEx Custom Critical in 1993 and most recently served as
human resources team leader. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business
management from The University of Akron, and he is a member of the
Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
Motuza joined the company in 1998, previously holding the positions of
human resources team leader and human resources generalist. Prior to
joining FedEx Custom Critical, Motuza was an HR supervisor at Office
Max. He holds a bachelor’s degree in labor and management relations
from Cleveland State University. He is a member of the Society for Human
Resource Management (SHRM), from which he maintains a Professional in
Human Resources (PHR) certificate.
