FedEx Custom Critical Enhances Online Shipping Toolkit

For Immediate Release: March 6, 2002

FedEx Custom Critical, Inc., North America’s largest time-specific, critical-shipment carrier, has enhanced its online Shipping Toolkit with features that enable customers to quote, schedule, track and map shipments as well as view corresponding shipment documents.

The Shipping Toolkit is a feature of the FedEx Custom Critical Web site, located at www.fedexcustomcritical.com. With the “Quote” option, customers can get detailed rate quotes with corresponding transit times. The “Track” option enables customers to check out the details of current shipments or review runs that have already delivered.

Customers who become registered Toolkit users, obtaining user identification numbers and passwords, have access to many other great features. The new “Ship” feature enables customers to set up their expedited shipments with a few mouse clicks instead of a telephone call. Shipment information such as pickup and delivery times and shipment status – for current shipments or any ones occurring within the past 28 days – is also available.

Other features for registered Toolkit users include “Detailed Track,” which provides information like company and contact names for the shipper and consignee; freight details such as number of pieces and weight; and pickup and delivery times. The “Shipping Documents” section of the Shipping Toolkit enables customers to view and print out copies of a shipment’s bill of lading, proof of delivery and invoice. The “Account Summary” feature aids in bill payment by providing copies of outstanding invoices, available in 30-day increments up to 90 days.

The Shipping Toolkit enhancements offer convenience and choice for FedEx Custom Critical customers. “Our online quoting and shipment set-up options provide convenient new ways for customers to do business with us, for those people who prefer a few key strokes to a phone call,” said Managing Director of IT and CIO Chris O’Neil. “And the online shipping documents give our customers 24-hour, seven-day-a-week access to their shipment information.”

FedEx Custom Critical provides exclusive-use, time-specific shipment services throughout the U.S. and Canada and within Europe. Among its divisions are Surface Expedite, for non-stop, door-to-door transport of critical shipments; White Glove Services®, for shipments that require special care in handling; and CharterAir®, which offers an array of expedited air solutions to meet customers’ critical delivery times.
